What to expect from a first consultation

A calm reception desk with a coordinator reviewing a tablet

A calm walk-through of a first skin consultation — what you will be asked, what to bring, and why there is no pressure to decide.

A first consultation is simply a conversation. It is a chance for you to share what you would like to feel and see, and for a practitioner to understand your skin before suggesting anything at all.

Before you arrive

  • Make a note of the products you use, or take a quick photo of them
  • Think about what you would most like to change — and what you would like to keep
  • Write down any questions, however small

During the consultation

Your practitioner will ask about your routine, lifestyle and any previous treatments. They will look closely at your skin in good light, and talk you through what they see in clear, straightforward language.

If treatments are discussed, a good consultation covers how they work, what they may and may not achieve, possible side effects, and alternatives — including doing nothing at all.

Afterwards

You should leave with a clear understanding of your options and plenty of time to think. A considered decision is always better than a rushed one.
